In Oregon two Great HS Throwers Develop!
It has been a great year in Oregon for up and coming athletes and with Track season in full swing we have some great developments.
Sophomore Ryan Crouser has been working at obtaining Oregon's high school records in the shot put and discus for the past year. The Barlow High School Sophomore is very close.
At the Oregon Relays at Hayward Field this year Crouser came close with a heave of 65 feet, 10 1/4 inches. This moved him to No. 3 all time in the State of Oregon. This was reportedly the 5th best throw this season in the US. Ryan is also close to the State record in the discus and is expected this year or next to threaten records in both events.
Crouser has family in the sport so it runs in his blood with his father Mitch and both uncles Dean and Brian all being excellent collegiate throwers in their day. Add to that his Cousin Sam who is a Junior at Gresham High School. Sam just threw the Javelin at the Dean Nice Invitational 226 feet, 7 inches. This was just a foot off the State record and the No. 1 throw in the nation this spring.
The Crouser's are certainly two of the premier athletes in the Country this year and as both are underclassmen we are in for a real treat as time unfolds their potnetial. Both athletes appear to be hot prospects for NCAA colleges and are on their way. Great job and best of luck to Sam and Ryan as the year heads to a conclusion.
