Mesquite, Texas – Mesquite High School, Varsity football’s junior Wide/Slot Receiver, Jordan Bracy, has accepted an invitation to attend the 2012 USA Under-19 National Football Team Trials, USA Football announced today. He is one of only 200 invitees. This is an invitation only program. Athletes will be participating in this program on behalf of the United States of America. Only U.S. citizens who are 19 years old or younger are eligible for the 2012 USA Under-19 National Football Team.
Consisting of the nation’s top 11th grade football players, the USA Under-19 National Football Team Trials will be held in Austin, TX from Thursday, July 5th – Sunday, July, 8th, with the University of Texas serving as host. Invitations to the trials were issued by the USA Football National Team Coordinator Matt Ferrara.
Bracy, a 2010 & 2011 5A All-Conference WR Honorable Mention athlete, trains with his Mesquite HS position coach, Christopher Dominguez, under the direction of Head Coach Robbie Robinson through the week, yet has the determination to continue weekend workouts with Former Oklahoma Sooner WR, David Robinson, toward his goal of playing collegiate football.
“USA Football is entrusted to build and run America’s only National Team Program. The team is built of the 50 “top right” U.S. players. These players represent the United States in competitions conducted by the International Federation of American Football. Their goal in building the USA Under-19 National Football Team is to identify players who excel both on and off the field as well as maintain the leadership, team mentality and character befitting of a national team athlete in America’s favorite sport.
Jordan Bracy is in the top 13% of his class, ranked 100 out of 727 students in his 2013 class. He maintains a 3.5 GPA even within a challenging AP class structure. Bracy even scored a 1600 on his first attempt at the SAT. He credits his academic success to his mother, June Bracy-Brown, who is very strict and hands on when it comes to his academics. “My mom stresses the term student-athlete because you MUST be a student first. Your grades help set you up for the dedication required for a successful life. She constantly pushes me to become a greater man and it pays off every day,” said Jordan.
Bracy said he would also like to thank his mother, June Bracy-Brown, Mr & Mrs Willie Drew, Mrs. Katrina Salles, The Stampede Track Club, Coach Robbie Robinson, and the USA Football Staff, for all of their support and encouragement.
Bracy has been a starting football player since he was 4 years old. He started playing football in the Mesquite PeeWee league, but switched to select league football at age 11 to be better prepared for upper level competition.
As a 2013 high school recruit, Bracy has been getting lots of top-tier schools recruiting him to play football for their program as well as for his academics. Some of those schools considering Jordan are University of Arkansas, University of Notre Dame, University of North Texas, Princeton University, and Mississippi State University.
If selected to the USA Under-19 National Football Team, Jordan could be 1 of a possible 3 athletes in his school’s history to accomplish this feat. It could also boost his exposure of receiving further skills recognition toward a collegiate scholarship, which is his goal.
“This is an honor to have an opportunity to represent the United States of America in international competition. I’m ecstatic! I’m looking forward to demonstrating my football skills, team leadership, and personal character at the final tryout in July to give the USA Coaching staff the confidence that I would be a valuable asset to the USA 19U National Team” explained Jordan Bracy – Mesquite HS.
